I Love River Place …
I Love River Place. It is a neighborhood that WELCOMES you home. River Place is my family’s home since the early 90’s. I LOVE River Place because out of all of the neighborhoods I have lived in and visited in the Greater Austin Area - which includes 3 counties, it holds a special combination of both hills and lakes, which makes Central Texas unique. Jim Shearer (my husband) has lived on River Place Boulevard across from the Tennis Courts and Club since the early 90’s when the neighborhood was still becoming established. At the time there were custom builders and production builders Newmark, Scott Felder and David Weekley to name a few. He is still active in tennis 20+ years in River Place!
It was my good fortune to marry into the Shearer family in 2015 joining his 3 daughters, (Alex) Sloan, Harper (Joy) and Macie (Jill) and they all graduated from Vandergrift High School within the past 6-8 years. I get to hear the stories about artwork, games at Sun tree park, bus stop chats, and club events, lunches and dinners. When I first moved in there was a refrigerator full of styrofoam containers from the club! Our oldest daughter, Sloan Shearer will be married in June in Bellingham Washington. Jill Shearer (their birth mom) and Ryan Gray are also active members of the River Place Country club who play lots of Golf too! You could say our Girls are blessed with lots of love and attention.
As an East Coast native of Fairfield county in a small coastal town called Stratford, Connecticut, Austin seemed like the right place to call home in 1989. Big Brother Mario (Optometrist, who now lives in Keller) invited Dad (in heaven now), an optician to take over one of the stores in a chain called Optical Outlet in the Outlet Mall in Round Rock. It was their invitation that sparked my interest in Texas. Mario still runs Southwest Vision Center in North Richland Hills. Prior to Texas I attended the University of Miami completing a bachelor’s degree in 1985, following up with an MBA in entrepreneurship in Austin at the Acton School of Business in Austin (2005). I’ve been afforded the priviledge of brokering a real estate company since IBM and Dell computers came to town…converting it to the Intero Franchise in 2007. Doing the math I believe that is 3 decades, EEK! It is my passion to play an active role connecting to neighbors in a HEARTFELT way spending as much time with others IN this community in as many fun, creative ways as I can.
